Matthew Gramling Woodworks designs and builds custom wood furniture.  We use locally sourced wood and work with our clients to create pieces that enhance their living area.

Since 2002, Matthew Gramling has been designing and hand-crafting furniture in Milwaukee.  “Artistic furniture should be a part of your life.  It is a way of valuing life.  We are composed of stories and our minds are sculpted by the world we live in.  When we interact with intention-filled furniture, we are able to open the important parts of our minds, the parts of us that conceive our meaning.”

Quality Materials

We harvest local city trees bound for the wood chipper and give them a new life.  By harvesting these elders of Milwaukee we reduce landfill waste, help maintain a cyclical ecology and display the stories of trees that sometimes date beyond a century.  By commissioning work through our library of local trees you can preserve our heritage and contribute to local, sustainable craft. 

We’ve also worked with clients who wish to use fallen trees from their yard or neighborhood. We’re always happy to create furniture that gives the client a connection to their past. They’re pieces that not only spark memories but continue to create them.

Custom Furniture

You have specific needs to be met though your furniture. Add value to your experience through furniture that was crafted just for you. We do our very best to enhance where you work, sleep, dine, and whine. We make both built-in and freestanding furniture, stereo cabinets, bookcases, desks, dressers and chairs.
